There, I said it.
Over the past few weeks I’ve gotten a lot of mixed responses when I’ve told friends, family, co-workers, you name it, that I’ve decided to run a half marathon. From skepticism to excitement and even slight bewilderment over why I would want to run 13.1 miles, I’ve pretty much heard it all at this point.
I like lists and organization. I like knowing what I’m getting myself into.Like pretty much everything I do, I’ve thought about planning, scheduling and if I can actually do this. And at this point, I’m pretty confident that the answer is yes.
Today I started my official training – built from a compilation of plans I found for beginning marathoners and half marathoners. I’ll (hopefully) be running the IMT Des Moines Half Marathon on Sunday, October 21.
I’ll occasionally be posting about what I learn along the way, and I would love any tips, tricks or seasoned marathoner advice that any of you have to offer!
