So, I’m running a half marathon

There, I said it.

Over the past few weeks I’ve gotten a lot of mixed responses when I’ve told friends, family, co-workers, you name it, that I’ve decided to run a half marathon. From skepticism to excitement and even slight bewilderment over why I would want to run 13.1 miles, I’ve pretty much heard it all at this point.

I like lists and organization. I like knowing what I’m getting myself into.Like pretty much everything I do, I’ve thought about planning, scheduling and if I can actually do this. And at this point, I’m pretty confident that the answer is yes.

Today I started my official training – built from a compilation of plans I found for beginning marathoners and half marathoners. I’ll (hopefully) be running the IMT Des Moines Half Marathon on Sunday, October 21.

I’ll occasionally be posting about what I learn along the way, and I would love any tips, tricks or seasoned marathoner advice that any of you have to offer!

Add my reaction to the “encouragement” and “excitement” categories. Half marathons are extremely fun and will definitely push you to new limits. My friend and I are registered for the IMT Des Moines Marathon so we’ll see you there! Good luck with your training!

Thanks for the encouragement! Good luck with your training as well.

Goodluck! You’ll get hooked once you cross that finish line! 🙂
