Eats: Chicago Cupcake Tour

All Rights Reserved Megan BannisterSince I’ve been home I’ve been taking advantage of good food, free laundry and, most importantly, ample time to catch up on my sleep. In fact, the only real plans I’ve had so far involved attending a Chicago Chocolate Tour with my mom.

I’ve mentioned before that my mom loves buying Groupons for walking tours of various places around Chicago so it seems only natural that we would end up on a tour focused on eating cupcakes.

All Rights Reserved Megan BannisterAfter sampling some phenomenal hot chocolate (in an adorable ceramic boot) from Chicago’s annual Christkindlmarket and checking out the window decorations at the Marshall Fields building, we headed inside to meet up with our group.

We spent the next two hours wandering between shops and cafes, and sampling delicious chocolates or cupcakes offered by each. After visits to Toni Patisserie & Cafe and Fannie May, we finished off our tour with cupcakes from one of my new favortes, Magnolia Bakery, and lattes from Chicago-based teahouse, Argo Tea.

Every stop was absolutely incredible (duh…we were on a chocolate-themed walking tour). I even came home with a few artisan chocolates and a German Chocolate cupcake of my own to snack on later – should I feel the need for even more dessert – which, of course, I did.
