The Week: December 28, 2012

Even though we didn’t have a white Christmas it sure has been blustery in Chicago the past few days. As a result, I’ve had a lot of time to read good books, cuddle with my puppy and, of course, peruse the Internet. Happy (almost) New Years!

This piece, “I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone”, by Richard Brautigan is one of the first truly beautiful things I’ve read in a long time. Especially enjoyable for any hopeless romantics out there.

I absolutely can’t get over how adorable these “measuring hedgies” from Anthropologie are – because what kitchen couldn’t use this monumental dose of cute.

During this particular boozy time of year, a gorgeous illustrated etiquette of how to drink wine from Joanna Goddard’s lovely blog.

I recently acquired Béa Peltre’s beautiful cookbook (in a bought of post-holiday shopping) and have since fallen in love with her blog La Tartine Gourmande. Food porn, indeed.

Famous photos edited to look as if they were taken as selfies.

And finally, the “Best News Bloopers of 2012.” Teaching all aspiring journalists what not to do on camera.
