As someone who is almost always cold, the winter months make me crave big sweaters, cozy fireplaces, hot beverages, and hearty, filling meals.
So yesterday when I stumbled into my apartment, frozen from the chilly -5 degree temperatures we’ve been saddled with lately, nothing sounded more appealing than a warm slice of beer cheese bread.
It’s fast, it’s easy and it makes an absolutely delicious meal pairing.
Luckily I had all of the necessary ingredients on hand, and less than 45 minutes later, I was enjoying a warm slice of cheesy bread with a steamy bowl of tomato soup.
Stay warm out there, Iowa!
What you’ll need:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 T sugar
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp dried basil
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 12-oz can of beer (the cheaper, the better)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix all of your ingredients, except for the cheese and beer, together in a large mixing bowl. Add in cheese and beer gradually until your dough is consistent. Don’t worry – the dough will be lumpy and a little bit sticky.
Place dough into greased loaf pan and bake for 35-40 minutes.
