The Week: July 19, 2013

As I get settled in my new apartment and adopt a new routine, the weekends have become a great opportunity to slow down and take some time to myself. This weekend I’ll be hanging out with my family, some olds friends and–of course–my dog, Cooper.

I spent a good portion of my week listening to this NPR First Listen featuring some new tunes from Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. I saw them live for the second time last month and their dreamy sound always feels just right for the hot, hazy days of summer.

I love Pop Chart Lab to the moon and back–I’ve gifted their incredible prints on more than one occasion. Now I have my eye on this adorable coffee chart, featured on Fab earlier this week.

A few weeks ago was 80/35–Des Moines’ annual summer musical festival–and David Byrne of Talking Heads fame was one of the headliners. Apparently he also has a blog–where we wrote some incredibly beautiful things about Des Moines and Iowa’s history.
