Baylor Street Art Wall

All Rights Reserved Megan BannisterWhen we first started planning our trip to Austin, one of the things I was most excited to see was the city’s vibrant street art scene. And if there’s one place that’s the mecca of Austin street art, it’s the Hope Outdoor Gallery.

The three-story outdoor space was installed as an educational art project, and officially opened in March 2011 with the support of big street art names like Shepard Fairey and Obey Giant Art. Today it’s one of the largest outdoor galleries in the U.S.

Even though there had been record amounts of rain the day before and we had to dodge a few pretty big puddles, we had an amazing time exploring the constantly-evolving public art.

Tips for Visiting the Hope Outdoor Gallery

We didn’t know this ahead of time, but because the wall is constantly evolving and changing, visitors are welcome to bring their own spray paint and add to the ongoing art project, as long as you’re respectful and clean up after yourself.
