Yes, you read that correctly! I’m writing a book called Vintage Supper Clubs of Iowa, which will be available in bookstores near you in 2020. I’m still pinching myself to make sure that this is actually happening, and while I know there’s lots of work ahead of me, I’m so excited.
When Arcadia Publishing reached out with an opportunity to collaborate on a book project, I jumped at the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream. Vintage Supper Clubs of Iowa will be part travelogue, part history of Iowa’s now-defunct supper clubs.
I’ve written about supper clubs before and loved sharing this Midwest tradition with so many who had never heard of it before. I’m excited to dig even deeper into the history of these unique restaurants that cropped up across Iowa. I’m also looking forward to driving around the state to eat some delicious food and meet the many Iowans who have made supper clubs their livelihood.

Supper clubs are a uniquely Midwestern tradition. With that tradition comes a lot of personal memories. If you have a favorite supper club—either one that’s no more or one that’s still open today— or fond dining memory, I would love to hear from you! I’m hoping to incorporate as many recommendations and anecdotes into the book as possible.
