On Saturday I caught up with some of my oldest, and dearest, friends for breakfast before heading downtown for a day in the city. While I waited for my friend at the Starbucks on Franklin and Monroe, I had a chance run-in with one of my all-time favorite people (who I met almost two years ago in Barcelona)—cities are funny like that, aren’t they?
Afterwards we headed to Lincoln Park Zoo, one of my favorite free summertime activities, and spent the afternoon wandering the exhibits and enjoying the sunshine. Possibly one of my favorite parts of the zoo—after the underwater seal observatory—is the Lincoln Park Conservatory. And while a greenhouse may not be the most pleasant place to be on a sweltering July afternoon, I love the incredible variety of colorful plants hidden right in the heart of the city.
