Eats: Goldie’s Ice Cream Shoppe

All Rights Reserved Megan BannisterLast Friday, in honor of finishing the first week of classes and to beat the gloom of a particularly dreary afternoon, a friend and I headed east to Goldie’s Ice Cream Shoppe for a sandwich that has been named the best pork tenderloin in the state of Iowa.

Located in Prairie City, roughly 20 miles east of Des Moines, the tiny restaurant makes for a quick and charming lunchtime adventure.

The sandwich was – as advertised – one of the best I’ve ever had and I highly recommend the battered Goldie fries and a chocolate malt to complete the meal. But bring your appetite, this sandwich is HUGE and ended up being my dinner a few nights later.
