See the Spooky Side of the City with Gothic Milwaukee

Disclosure: We received free tickets for Gothic Milwaukee‘s classic historic walking tour. However, all opinions are my own.

When it comes to ghostly phenomenon and spooky attractions, I’m a pretty big baby. So when some friends suggested that we check out Gothic Milwaukee‘s classic ghost tour of downtown, I was a little hesitant.

But this incredible walking tour experience eclipsed any otherworldly fears I may have had. Gothic Milwaukee delivered the most hilarious and informative ghost tour (or really any tour, for that matter) that I’ve ever taken. Not only does owner and tour guide Anna Lardinois know her stuff, she’s also a charming and quick witted performer. Whether you’re new to the city or a long-time resident, Gothic Milwaukee’s tours offer a great way to experience downtown with a twist—especially since you don’t typically see too many ladies in hoop skirts wandering the streets.

The classic tour offers a great overview of some of downtown Milwaukee’s most notable buildings with paranormal histories. Tours start at Cathedral Square, at the corner of Jackson and Wells Streets, and last about 90 minutes. Throughout that time, Anna does a fantastic job weaving together stories based both in fact and folklore that offer a unique look at Milwaukee’s history.

Stops include locations like The Pfister, the most haunted location in Milwaukee, where you’ll discover why certain celebrities (I’m lookin’ at you, Joey Lawrence) and professional sports teams refuse to stay in the upscale hotel.

If You Take a Gothic Milwaukee Walking Tour

If you’re looking for a walking tour of Milwaukee, I can’t recommend Gothic Milwaukee enough! Tours can be booked online during pre-scheduled times, but private tours are also available. You can find more information about tour scheduling here.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes since you’ll be covering some ground—about 1.5 miles—during your tour. It’s also important to note these tours are live performances that happen rain or shine. So depending on the weather forecast and time of year, it pays (literally) to be prepared.

Cost: $15 per person

This looks like a lot of f un. I love the history you get on these kinds of tours. The one I went on in Springfield, IL was fun too

We’ve been thinking about doing a walking tour on our next visit to MKE. Normally I would stay away from a tour with any derivative of the word “spooky” in its title, but this actually sounds like the right degree of spooky. I’m definitely going to check it out! Thanks for the tip!

You absolutely should! I’m typically a big baby when it comes to spooky attractions, but Anna is a phenomenal and hilarious tour guide. I can’t recommend her tours enough. Thanks so much for reading!
