Act Like a Kid Again at Moon Marble Company

On the surface, a recommendation to visit a local toy store may not seem that compelling. But Moon Marble Company is not your typical shop. Whether you have kids traveling with you or not, I guarantee that a visit to Moon Marble Company will be a highlight of your time in Bonner Springs.
Opened in 1997, Moon Marble Company not only sells all sorts of classic toys but also showcases the impressive art of handmade glass marbles. The shop offers demonstrations daily, oftentimes led by artisan and owner Bruce Breslow. Bruce is a wealth of knowledge about marbles and their creation, and getting the opportunity to watch him work is such a treat.
When I say that I could spend hours wandering around this offbeat shop, I mean it! Every time I’m in the area, it’s always high on my list to visit and pick up an interesting souvenir. Don’t miss out on their great, silly selection of postcards as well!

Stretch your legs and explore downtown Bonner Springs with a walk and wander through some of the area’s small businesses. There are lots of wonderful local shops along Oak Street, but I especially loved popping into YoWZa Antiques & Sweet Shoppe to browse their wonderfully curated selection of vintage and handmade items.

Explore Olde Mill Properties

If you’re looking for a unique way to spend an afternoon in Bonner Springs, head to Olde Mill Properties. This former historic mill has been converted into a community gathering space unlike few I’ve experienced elsewhere.

There’s plenty to explore during your time at this awesome venue, including lots of delicious places to eat. Don’t miss out on these great local spots:
- Ten & Two Coffee Bar: Grab some fuel for your afternoon at the Olde Mill at this cute automotive-themed coffee bar.
- Quentin’s BBQ & Sides: If you’re looking for more substantial fair, Quentin’s BBQ & Sides has got you covered. With an outdoor ordering window and plenty of filling menu options, this BBQ spot is a great addition to the Olde Mill’s other offerings.
- Olde Mill Ice Cream Shop: Satisfy your sweet tooth with a scoop (or two) of ice cream from the property’s in-house sweet shop.
- Outfield Beer Company: Grab a pint to enjoy at the property’s on-site microbrewery, or take your drink outdoors to the large covered patio area.
The complex is also home to The Fuel House, Kansas City’s self-proclaimed “automotive country club.” While the club areas are restricted to members, you’ll likely spot some cool classic cars in the parking lots and outdoor areas at Olde Mill Properties.
