I don’t mess around when it comes to ice cream. In fact, it’s probably the dessert that I like most. So it’s no surprise that Sherman’s Ice Cream makes my list of favorite South Haven, Michigan spots.
My family has been going to this local ice cream icon for years. So long, in fact, that I can remember feeding my baby brother—then actually a baby—water from a spoon while we snacked on our sundaes because he was still too young to eat ice cream. While my favorite flavor—Chocolate Moo Milk—has since been retired, you really can’t go wrong with any Sherman’s pick. One of their most popular flavors is easily Blue Moon, a brightly hued ice cream that tastes pretty much like vanilla.
For years, one of my family’s beach traditions has been to hunt for beach glass. Growing up, finding a piece of blue always meant a well-deserved trip to Sherman’s. I even learned on my most recent visit to Michigan that a number of our neighbors have adopted the tasty tradition.
Tourist Tip: You probably only need to order a “baby” size—I promise it’s at least a double scoop of ice cream anywhere else.
