Sips: Virtue Cidery

Now I’ve been to my fair share of breweries and wineries, but have you ever been to a cidery? Yeah, me neither.

While in Michigan, one of our neighbors mentioned they’d recently been driving and stumbled upon Virtue Cider, which, coincidentally, is owned by former Goose Island Beer Company Brewmaster Gregory Hall. So we took a little trip up the road to visit Virtue and sample some ciders, and let me say, it was glorious.

Granted it was during the week, but the cidery was far from busy when we arrived so we were able to poke around and taste the different ciders at our leisure. At Virtue your first taste is free and each additional is only $1—which is a pretty fabulous deal.

With about half a dozen hard ciders, chances are Virtue will have something for everyone. I sampled a few and settled on the more traditional Ledbury as my favorite.

The cidery is open daily from noon to 7 p.m.
